The Tram Ride to the Top of the Gateway Arch will resume operation starting July 8, 2020, at 9 a.m. Gateway Arch National Park announced this news along with the return of the documentary movie, “Monument to a Dream,” and new outdoor programming as part of the phased-reopening of the Park.

Tickets for the Tram Ride to the Top and “Monument to a Dream” are required and can be purchased online or by phone beginning Monday, July 6 at noon. Access to the Visitor Center and Museum is included in the Tram Ride and documentary movie tickets.

Visiting the Gateway Arch Visitor Center and Museum is always free and requires a timed-ticket reservation to enter.

The Gateway Arch reopening plan follows guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local public health authorities. Phased reopening will allow for increased visitor access while continuing to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic closely.

Know Before You Go

Gateway Arch National Park has made the following modifications to the Tram Ride to the Top, movie theatre, and outdoor programming.

• Bi-State Development, which operates the tram will require face coverings for tram riders ages 9 and up.
• Disposable face coverings can be purchased for $1 at The Arch Store.
• Guests with preexisting health conditions unable to wear a mask/face covering for medical reasons are exempt.
• Tram cars and observation deck windows will be assigned by family/group.
• Solo visitors will be assigned their own tram car and windows.
• To maintain directional flow and ensure one way in/one way out of the observation deck, one tram will transport visitors to the top, while the other tram will transport visitors to the ground level.
• A 10-minute time limit in Arch observation deck.
• Plastic coverings have been installed below observation deck windows.
• Plexiglas barriers have been installed between observation windows.
• Periodic disinfecting and sanitization of tram car surfaces, seats, and handrails as well as surfaces and windows in the observation deck.

Documentary Movie

• Significantly reduced capacity in the theater with rows closed to ensure social distancing.
• Reminders to follow health and safety guidelines.
• Increased disinfecting and sanitizing of surfaces and handrails.

Outdoor Programming

• Free, 30-minute ranger-led walking tours offered daily at 10:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 3:15 p.m., starting outside the Gateway Arch new Visitor Center entrance (weather permitting).
• Tour reservations are strongly encouraged by calling 877-982-1410.
• Park rangers will use a portable audio system to allow social distancing.
• Information about other Gateway Arch National Park programs, including ranger-led riverboat cruises and Park grounds runs, can be found online atwww.nps.gov/jeff.

The National Park Service encourages visitors to follow CDC guidance to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and take their own necessary precautions to protect themselves and the people around them:

• Practice social distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet of distance between you and others.
• Wear a face covering when social distancing cannot be maintained.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
• Stay at home and contact your doctor if you feel sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
