Description

The statewide non-profit, Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation (Missouri Preservation) will celebrate “Preserving Places of History” at the Old Courthouse during their annual fundraising gala event on Friday, December 6, 2019. Those interested in attending the event can purchase tickets at preservemo.org/preservingplacesofhistory

Chaired by local philanthropist Mary Pillsbury Wainwright and historian Mimi Stiritz, the 2019 Missouri Preservation fundraising gala will recognize the importance of preserving places of history. The evening will highlight the recent restoration of the Old Courthouse, a nationally significant historic place, while also raising funds for Missouri Preservation’s efforts to help preserve and protect the lesser-known places of history — the local places — and the individuals that support them. Every place of history has something to teach us.

Help Missouri Preservation kick off the holiday season in historic fashion! Attendees at this year’s gala will have the opportunity to view the permanent exhibits at the Old Courthouse and network with individuals involved in the restoration project while enjoying traditional Victorian Christmas décor and holiday music. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $150 per person and must be purchased prior to the event —no tickets will be sold on-site and space is limited. Valet parking will be available at the Broadway Street entrance for $6. Other parking options include the Kiener East Plaza Parking Garage. A block of rooms is available at the nearby Hotel Saint Louis for $169 per night.

Incorporated in 1976, Missouri Preservation has grown from a grassroots advocacy organization to Missouri’s premier preservation non-profit, supporting hundreds of members and offering a variety of programs and services to the community statewide. A 501(c)3 federally tax-exempt organization, Missouri Preservation’s first annual gala debuted in 2017 with the organization’s 40th Anniversary Party at St. Louis Union Station and continued as a way to raise funds for the organization while also offering guests a look behind-the-scenes at historic locations. Information on Missouri Preservation’s programs and services, as well as tickets for the event,  can be found online at preservemo.org
