Mansion House is proud to announce that resident Sharonda McMullen has been inducted into the 2017 class of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series Hall of Fame.
Nearly 500,000 individuals run in the Rock ‘n’ Roll races annually with 4,600 attempting to reach the Hall of Fame. Only 150 people made it through in 2017, and this Mansion House resident is one of them. Sharonda ran 15 half marathons which qualified her for the Hall of Fame. Over the course of 2017, she ran 230.5 miles, earned 50 medals, and ran 28 races in 15 cities across 12 states and 2 countries.
Sharonda offered two pieces of advice on running this kind of distance. First, find a training program and stick with it. Second and most importantly, get your mind right. She feels that mental drive far outweighs physical ability. The thought process she follows can be applied to any and everything you go after, she said.
Through every step, every race, and every ache, she was inspired by a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just the first step.”
